"염라대왕이 '직업이 뭐냐?'고 질문하면 '색 안 쓰는 화가요'라고 답해야 할 것 같았다.
그때부터 '있는 색은 모두 다 쓰겠다', '이 색들을 내 색깔로 승화시키겠다'고 결심했다. 오래 되지 않은 이야기다.
앞으로도 좋은 작품들이 나올 것이다.

If God asks me "what did you do in your lifetime?" I felt like I would have to say "an artist who doesn't use color".
So I decided to use all the colors existing in the world, to make those colors "color of my own". I made my mind not very long ago.

그림을 그리기 위해서 우리는 캔버스를 마주한다.
하지만, 면을 채워가는 일련의 과정들은 작가에게 다르게 다가올 것이다.
이것은 색을 위한 과정만이 아니며, 질감만을 위한 과정 또한 아니다.

자신 본연의 생각을 완벽하게 믿지도 않았기에
의도치 않은 결과를 만들기 위해 마대를 사용했으며,
연기에 그을려보기도 하고,
여러 개의 나무판 사이에 물감이 배어 나오게도 했을 것이다.
그림은 결과가 아니다.
작가의 고뇌는 그러한 과정에서 더욱 빛을 발한다.

He didn't fully believe in his original thoughts,
so he used a cloth to produce unintended results, burning it, and even making the paint to seep out of the wooden boards.
A piece of painting is not the only outcome.
The artist's agony shines even more in such a process.
